There are few things I enjoy more than a simple suit with a modern twist and casual aesthetic. With a suit you have the option of dressing up, or dressing down, and I usually prefer the latter. For someone who is prone to wear fall clothing even in the heat of summer, I am certainly ready for fall and rocking a suit on campus when the leaves start to change colors. I've been meaning to write a post about this look I shot awhile back with Mitchell Flores, as you can tell by my temporary redhead moment. Looking through some of the pictures we captured, I'm beginning to wonder if I should make the switch back.

Mixing textures and garments from different seasons is one of my favorite ways to experiment when styling shoots, so I decided to do just that for one of my looks I shot with Kelsie Shelton. Of course with her amazing photography skills and the dreamy backdrop of cacti and glossy blue windows, almost any outfit could receive a potential upgrade. After making various trips back and fourth to the car to change outfits while avoiding the awkward city gawkers' stares at my semi-alien girl ensemble, we trekked on to the last location in front of a business building in downtown Dallas. I can confidently say it was well worth it to stand outside in the grueling heat to capture this look after scrolling through the camera roll.

I don't know whether it's my frugalness or sheer laziness, but there's something so appealing about the concept of taking an old man's shirt and turning into a dress. Why pay extra for a garment with a women's label when you can stop by any local thrift shop, grab an oversized men's button down, and rock it a few hours later while grabbing lunch with some friends? I am all for recycling old clothing and making it your own, especially while on a budget, which I tend to be. There's few things more satisfying to me in terms of my shopping habits than saving a buck and revamping old pieces for a minimalist wardrobe. Easy, simple, clean.
