L A - M A R Q U E - A U X - T R O I S - B A N D E S

With the summer months coming to a dreary close, and the start of my new job, I've spent a lot of time working outside of the creative sphere and much less time working on blog posts and scheduling photo shoots. As much as this has bummed me out for the past couple of weeks, it's definitely put in to perspective the amount of time needed to create quality blog posts and conceptualize future shoots.  Beyond the lack of creative juices that have seemingly dried up due to the hell that is the customer service industry, I can say that I've gained a larger appreciation for all the risk takers who skip out on financial security in the hopes of pursing their creative dreams. Come the less scorching autumn months, the best season for fashion (in my humble opinion) and the only livable months in Texas, I hope to focus my energy on blogging and styling and all of the things that make life more interesting. Here are some photos from an old shoot I did with Kelsie Shelton featuring some of my favorite Adidas pieces, all thrifted of course, and paired with a simple lace-detailed skirt.

D O N ' T - S W E A T - I T

Quick little ootd featuring my coziest of all midi sweat pants and a simple, cropped grey tee. I have no shame in wearing library attire out and about, especially if it involves a pair of comfy sneakers. Thank goodness for cotton pants and lounge-wear with an edge. If you see me on campus, chances are I'll be sporting this number more than once a week (ain't no tellin').

With it's California Cool vibe and minimal aesthetic, Alfie Brand is everything it should be; a lifestyle brand with a focus in comfort and all the good things in life. This is brand I can commit to, and not just for it's all-around cozy cotton tees and rainy day pull-overs. I love the attention to detail, the fabric choices, the focus on earth tones and neutrals. I love the simplicity of pulling on a favorite tee and snuggling up on my couch with a cup of hot coffee or maybe going for a walk in the late afternoon. This is the kind of street wear that combines classic items with a distinct freshness and simplicity that I'm all about when choosing pieces for the rest of my wardrobe. You can peep the full collection here as well their tumblr page. For daily musings and new releases, check out their instagram.

I wanted to create a quick, simple post with a favorite trend I've been enjoying lately; the midi/cropped pant. I found this grey two-piece set while out thrifting and I loved the fit of them so much I decided to create three separate looks to better display their versatility. A major throwback to the flowy gaucho pants of the 70's, I can't help but feel somewhat nostalgic for the pair of gaucho pants I used to own back in grade school. I remember forcing my mom to take me to the mall to get a pair so I could be cool like all the other girls (thank god for Delia's in all of its pre-teen glory). The first look is meant for a night out with friends or maybe a dinner somewhere in the city. For the second two looks, I wanted to keep it casual and easy.

V I N T A G E - D E N I M

A couple months back I had the pleasure of working with the talented and sweet as ever Kelsie Shelton, who happens to attend the same university as me and is well-versed in the art of fashion photography and taking badass photos in general. With end of semester shenanigans/final exam ptsd, this post became temporarily delayed, but now that my summer schedule has eased up a bit (for now), I was finally able to gather some of my favorites from out shoot together.

To see more of her fashion work you can check out her site here, as well as her tumblr.

If it's not already evident, this post is all about denim, which has become the new staple for me and the subject of several of my previous blog posts. I love finding the perfect fitting denim jean and then chopping it up to my taste. Lately I've enjoyed the 'overly exposed' denim trend that involves cutting two giant holes out of the front of the pant legs, leaving your bare legs almost entirely visible. Finally, a denim trend that allows my legs to breathe and gives me a few extra months to rock jeans, which are an easy go to for almost any occasion.
